What does a care assistant do?

As a care assistant, you work in elderly care, often in home care or at nursing homes. The work is varied and may include:

• assisting with personal hygiene and dressing
• providing support during meals
• administering medication
• documenting and reporting changes in health status

There is a great shortage of trained staff - you are needed!

About the training

Job Track - Care Assistant is a collaboration between the Employment Service, the municipalities in Western Östergötland (Motala, Vadstena, and Boxholm), and Attendo.

Duration: approximately 42 weeks full-time

Location: Mjölby

Structure: both theory and practice

Content: corresponds to courses in the upper secondary school health and care program

Goal: 800 upper secondary school credits and good opportunities for employment as a care assistant

During the training, there is practical training that employers help select. If both training and practice go well, there is a good chance of getting a job afterward. You can also continue your studies to eventually become a nursing assistant.

Who is suitable as a care assistant?

To thrive in the profession, you need to:

• enjoy working with people
• be able to work days, evenings, and weekends according to a schedule
• collaborate well with others and have a good attitude
• be responsible, attentive, flexible, and able to work independently
• communicate well in Swedish and document your work

If you have a different mother tongue than Swedish, you need to have knowledge equivalent to at least SFI D.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, you need to:

• be unemployed and registered with the Employment Service
• have the potential to be employed after the training

Application

Apply by 2026-01-08. Those who are eligible will be invited to an information and recruitment meeting. The training is planned to start in February.
